A Wee Knitted Elephant Man!

I love this.
I flaming well LOVE IT!

Found on the brilliant Flickr page of someone called ‘MaffersToys’, a wee knitted Elephant Man!

From the Flickr page:

“I am NOT AN ELEPHANT. I AM NOT AN ANIMAL! I am a human being! I’m… a man.”

A toy version of Joseph Carey (aka John) Merrick, also known as The Elephant Man. In spite of what many people assumed of him upon sight, he was a highly affectionate, caring and intelligent man for whom I have the utmost respect..

I decided to publish the pattern, so see my profile if you are interested.

La Tomatina: The Spanish Tomato Throwing Festival.

La Tomatina is a festival that is held in the Valencian town of Buñol, a town located 30 km inland from the Mediterranean Sea in which participants throw tomatoes and get involved in this tomato fight purely for fun. It is held on the last Wednesday of August, during the week of festivities of Buñol.

I think we could all use a festival like this.
Just imagine, Tomatoes…EVERYWHERE!

Carl Warner’s Foodscapes.

See this?:

Well that’s no ordinary picture or photo.
That is an actual scene made entirely from food!
– Red cabbage mostly.

The talent behind that is artist & photographer Carl Warner and he didn’t just make one.

* Coconut haystacks:

* Hot air balloons made of a variety of fruit and veg soar over fields of asparagus, courgettes, beans and corn :

* A pea pod boat sails on a sea of salmon away from a land made from bread and potatoes:

* He cites the films “The Wizard Of Oz” and “Charlie & The Chocolate Factory” among his influences:

I think my favourite one is the salmon sea.
Here’s a photo of the man himself at work:

Carl says:
“Although I’m very hands-on, I do use model makers and food stylists to help me create the sets.
I tend to start with a drawing which I sketch out in order to get the composition worked out”
