Del Ray Oz Book Covers (I): Baum.

I originally planned to do this a lot earlier.
My plan was to compare cover illustrations from different editions of L. Frank Baum‘s Oz Series.

The book covers were hard to find so that’s what took me so long.

These are the front cover paintings/illustrations for the Del Ray editions of L. Frank Baum’s Oz Series.
The artwork is by Michael Herring.

It’s taken me months to find all of these.

I like them.
I like them because of their layout and colour.
I don’t like them.
I don’t like them because they all lack character.
They don’t bring you in if you know what I mean?

I’m interested in them because they’re not by John R. Neill.
One or Two are even based on some of Neill’s unused drawings.
