Review: “Terminator Salvation”.

By Alan Cook.

So I went to see it.

Why?
Curiosity coupled with the fact I had 3 hours to kill between shifts at work.

I knew it would be terrible.
I just didn’t expect it to be as bad as it was.

How did I know it’d be terrible?

Because The story was finished with thought and style at the end of “Terminator 2: Judgement Day“.
It was.
It was over and it ended perfectly.

The Terminator” & “Terminator 2″ are perfect films.
James Cameron really put his heart into those pictures.

Not to mention the fact that both of them were cool as all holy fuck.
:)

But you know how these things go.
People can’t leave great things alone.

For me, The 3rd one was laughable.
Laugh Out Loudable!

The acting, The dialogue, The huge amounts of CGI and obvious Green Screen.
Total joke if you ask me.
Already, The 3rd movie has a dated look while the first two still hold up.
It’s CGI.

Anyways,
Back to the 4th installment.

* Incoherent storyline & plot.
* Bad music which doesn’t fit the film. (I love Danny Elfman though).
* Embarassing throw backs and lame in-jokes to the first 2 films.
* Overuse of CGI.
* The dark moods & tones which made the first two films so special were missing.
* Characters which you don’t care for/Have no purpose or lines. (Star).
* Corny as fuck ending.
* Silly & boring dialogue.
* Massive explosions every 2 minutes.
* Clean cut, beautiful, shiny young actors.
* Obvious before they happen plot twists.
* Christian Bale continuously saying “This is/I am John Connor”.
* Funny looking robots.
* Bad set design.

Ach, I don’t care how much it cost to make.
It still looks really cheap.

It’s a turkey folks.
A big massive turkey.

The director should maybe have viewed the teaser trailer for “Terminator 2″ that Stan Winston made very swiftly with a small budget:

You could learn a lot from Stan Winston.
It’s a shame he’s not around anymore.

See “Terminator Salvation” if you are easily impressed and like:

* Confusing plots that go nowhere.
* Bad over blown CGI Hollywood effects.
* Summer blockbusters with lots of explosions.
* Big silly robots with guns.
* Guns.
* Christian Bales’ Batman voice.

All in all,
Pointless & Boring.

Who cares though right?
I don’t.

It’s only a movie.
A forgetable movie.

  1. Jared Davis Says:

    There wasn’t a scene where John Connors suddenly starts cussing out someone about “trashing his scene”? That would probably have improved the movie so much…

  2. Alan Cook. Says:

    Does cussing mean saying “Fuck” and “fuck off” and “fuck you” a lot?

    Know what would have improved the movie?
    A plot and vision.
